Beyond the Surface: The Deep Healing Powers of Red Light and Vibrational Therapy

A Trainer's Insight into Red Light & Vibrational Therapy

With two decades of experience under my belt as a certified fitness trainer, I've had the privilege of guiding countless older adults on their fitness journeys. The beauty of age is that it brings wisdom, resilience, and a deeper understanding of one's body. Yet, it also presents unique challenges, especially for women navigating the complexities of menopause.

However, I stand as a testament to the fact that age and physiological changes don't define us. At 58, I've managed to keep menopause symptoms at bay. The secret? A combination of a growth mindset and a meticulously crafted fitness routine.

This mindset led me to explore the synergistic benefits of red light and vibrational therapy at Planet Fitness.

The recommendation was clear: a dedicated 90-day regimen, immersing myself in the therapy 3-4 times a week. Given my background, I approached this with both curiosity and a critical eye. But just 30 days in, the results have been undeniably impressive. Beyond the evident skin rejuvenation, there's a renewed vigor, a vitality that resonates with the same energy I advocate for in my training sessions.

To my peers and clients, this isn't just a personal anecdote. It's evidence that with the right mindset and tools, we can redefine the narrative of aging. As I progress through this 90-day journey, I'm not just anticipating the physical transformations. I'm excited about the broader message it sends about age, vitality, and the endless possibilities that lie ahead when we embrace both. Dive 'Beyond the Surface' with me, and let's redefine what it means to age gracefully and powerfully.

What is the Red Light Therapy and Vibration Platform?

Red light therapy, also known as photobiomodulation or low-level light therapy (LLLT), involves exposing the skin to low levels of red or near-infrared light. This type of therapy has been studied for various potential benefits, including wound healing, pain relief, and skin rejuvenation.

The Beauty Angel RVT 30 is a specific device often found in some Planet Fitness locations. It's a combination of red light therapy and a vibration platform.

Here's a brief overview:

#1. Red Light Therapy:

The Beauty Angel RVT 30 uses red light (non-UV) to purportedly stimulate the skin's fibroblasts, which can increase the production of collagen and elastin. This can potentially lead to reduced wrinkles, smoother skin, and an overall more youthful appearance.

#2. Vibration Platform:

The device also includes a vibration platform that the user stands on. This platform provides a full-body vibration, which can help with muscle toning, increased circulation, and potentially aid in the reduction of cellulite.

It's important to note that while many users report positive experiences with devices like the Beauty Angel RVT 30, scientific evidence on the long-term benefits and effectiveness of red light therapy for skin rejuvenation is still a topic of ongoing research. Always consult with a dermatologist or skincare professional before starting any new skincare treatments. As always this article is for information purposes. Please see the full disclosures here.

20 Benefits of Red Light Therapy

#1. Skin Rejuvenation:

Details: Red light therapy can stimulate collagen and elastin production, which can lead to reduced wrinkles and a more youthful appearance. I can personally attest to this one. My skin (and hair, as mentioned later) have drastically improved!

#2. Wound Healing:

Details: The therapy can accelerate tissue repair, reduce inflammation, and enhance collagen synthesis, aiding in faster wound healing. I had a small cut on my leg and it healed faster than usual because of this use!

#3, Acne Treatment:

Details: Red light can reduce inflammation and bacteria on the skin, which can help in treating acne.

#4. Pain Relief:

Details: It can reduce inflammation and stimulate mitochondria, potentially leading to pain relief in conditions like arthritis. When I started red light light therapy (August 20, 2023) I had pain in my gut. In fact, I felt like something was wrong with my gut. But having started red light therapy it has diminished down to nothing. Of note is: I also cut way back on my sugar intake on the same date. Perhaps it is a combination?

#5. Hair Growth:

Details: Some studies suggest that red light therapy can stimulate hair follicles, promoting hair growth in people with androgenic alopecia. My hair has grown faster in the last 3 weeks than usual. How do I know? My roots sprouted before my usual 6 weeks!

#6. Improved Circulation:

Details: The therapy can lead to increased nitric oxide production, which can improve blood flow and oxygenation of tissues. Currently, I am trying to get off my blood pressure medication as I have been taking it since 2008. This is genetic. My blood pressure has been perfect 115/90 for the last few weeks. Could it be because of red light therapy? I think so!

#7. Muscle Recovery:

Details: It can reduce muscle soreness after exercise, leading to faster recovery times. Yes, I can attest to this!

#8. Reduced Inflammation:

  • Details: Red light therapy can reduce the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines, leading to reduced inflammation in various conditions. Could my gut issues have been caused by inflammation? I think so and this has also gone down. I have always had a gut. I mean I had a pooch when I was 10. But now it has gone down. I know I had gut inflammation. But due to cutting sugar and starting red light therapy at the same time, I am not sure which one contributed to this. Let’s just say I am starting to get happy with my gut which definitely did not look like a personal trainer’s gut!! 🤣

#9. Joint Health:

  • Details: It can reduce joint pain and inflammation, benefiting conditions like osteoarthritis. I also had a minor shoulder impingement injury that was causing me pain. I think it stemmed from some back and shoulder blade issues. Stress? Maybe. But this has gone away 100% in just the 30 days of treatment!

#10. Cellular Energy Production:

  • Details: Red light stimulates mitochondria, the energy-producing units in cells, leading to increased ATP (adenosine triphosphate) production. ATP is something your body produces naturally when in rest while lifting weights. This ATP helps you have more energy to do the next set. My energy was already off the charts. Now? I am boundlessly full of energy and I feel great!

#11. Improved Sleep:

  • Details: Some users report better sleep quality after using red light therapy, possibly due to reduced pain or inflammation. I never had a problem with sleep. This is probably due to my fitness regimen. But now I sleep so solidly. And my dreams? Off the charts good! This means my deep sleep has improved dramatically!

#12. Mood Enhancement:

  • Details: Red light therapy can increase serotonin production, potentially leading to improved mood and reduced symptoms of depression. I am generally a happy person. But I will say before red light therapy I was getting irritated easily. Now, not so much!!

#13. Reduced Cellulite:

  • Details: By improving circulation and collagen production, red light therapy might help in reducing the appearance of cellulite. A few years ago I started developing cellulite on my abdominal area. I do notice a decrease in this and even the development of my six-pack muscles starting to show. I’ll let you know when the 90 days are up if this is in fact working.

#14. Improved Skin Tone:

  • Details: It can reduce hyperpigmentation and even out skin tone. I have always been freckley! (Is that a word?) I think I need more time to see if this is actually true for me.

#15, Treatment of Cold Sores:

  • Details: Red light therapy can reduce the healing time and pain associated with cold sores.

#16. Reduced Symptoms of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome:

  • Details: It can reduce pain and improve hand function in individuals with carpal tunnel syndrome.

#17. Tendonitis Treatment:

  • Details: Red light therapy can reduce pain and inflammation associated with tendonitis. This could be why my shoulder impingement has gotten better. I have a friend who has tendonitis in her elbows. I will definitely recommend this treatment to her and see how it helps - if she follows through.

#18. Reduced Signs of Sun Damage:

  • Details: It can help in reversing the signs of sun damage by promoting skin repair. Again, I’ll let you know since I am a freckle-spotted human being.

#19. Improved Eye Health:

  • Details: Some studies suggest that red light therapy can benefit age-related macular degeneration and improve vision.

#20. Enhanced Athletic Performance:

  • Details: By improving muscle recovery and reducing inflammation, athletes might experience enhanced performance post-therapy.

It's essential to note that while many of these benefits have been reported in various studies, the effectiveness of red light therapy can vary depending on the individual, the specific condition being treated, the device used, and the duration and frequency of treatments. Always consult with a healthcare professional before starting red light therapy for any medical condition.

Vibration Platforms

Vibration platforms, also known as whole-body vibration (WBV) machines, have gained popularity in fitness and rehabilitation settings. Here are five potential benefits of using a vibration platform:

  1. Muscle Strengthening and Toning:

    • Details: The vibrations cause muscles to contract and relax multiple times per second, which can lead to increased muscle strength and tone. This reflexive muscle action can engage up to 100% of the muscle fibers, compared to traditional resistance training.

  2. Improved Bone Density:

    • Details: WBV has been studied as a method to combat osteoporosis. The mechanical stimulus from the vibration is believed to increase bone density by stimulating osteoblasts (cells responsible for bone formation).

  3. Enhanced Circulation:

    • Details: The rapid contraction and relaxation of muscles can lead to increased blood flow, which can improve circulation and oxygenation of tissues.

  4. Flexibility and Balance:

    • Details: Vibration platforms can enhance flexibility by improving blood flow and muscle performance. Additionally, by challenging the body's sense of balance, these platforms can help improve overall balance and coordination.

  5. Cellulite Reduction:

    • Details: Some proponents believe that WBV can reduce the appearance of cellulite by improving circulation and lymphatic drainage, although scientific evidence on this particular benefit is still a topic of debate.

It's important to note that while many users report positive experiences with vibration platforms, the effectiveness can vary based on the individual, the specific goals, the settings used on the platform, and the duration and frequency of sessions. As with any exercise or therapy equipment, it's essential to consult with a healthcare or fitness professional before starting a new regimen.

FAQs about Red Light Therapy and Vibration Plate

  • Yes, combining vibration with red light therapy can enhance the overall therapeutic experience. While red light therapy focuses on cellular rejuvenation, collagen production, and inflammation reduction, the vibration platform aids in muscle toning, improved circulation, and potentially the reduction of cellulite. When used together, the vibrational component can amplify blood flow, ensuring that the rejuvenating effects of the red light are distributed more efficiently throughout the body. This synergy can lead to more pronounced and potentially faster results in skin health, muscle recovery, and overall well-being.

  • While vibration plates offer a range of benefits, they also come with potential drawbacks. Prolonged or intense use can stress the joints, especially in individuals with pre-existing conditions. Some users might experience dizziness or motion sickness, and the plates might not be suitable for everyone, including those with certain medical conditions or pregnant individuals. There's also a risk of overuse injuries if not used correctly. Additionally, they don't provide as significant a caloric burn as traditional exercises, can be noisy, and high-quality models can be costly. Moreover, potential buyers should be wary of exaggerated claims in the market.

  • While red light therapy is lauded for its benefits, it does have potential drawbacks. Regular sessions can be costly, especially without a personal device. Some users report initial skin redness or irritation, and its effectiveness can vary among individuals. Overuse might lead to skin damage, and there's a need for consistent application for sustained results. Lastly, while rare, some people may experience eye strain or damage if proper eye protection isn't used.

  • Red light therapy works by increasing blood flow to damaged muscle tissues or injuries where blood flow may be restricted.

This increased blood flow speeds up the elimination of toxins and delivers more oxygen and nutrient-rich red blood cells. All while removing metabolic waste products such as lactic acid.

By accelerating the natural cleansing process and speeding up the delivery of much-needed nutrients to fatigued muscles, red light therapy can significantly improve muscle recovery times after exercise.

  • The cost is included in your black card membership which is less than $25 per month with an annual fee of about $44 per year. This also includes us of the gym open 24/7 and hyrdomassage beds, chair massage, and tanning beds. Join for $1 today!

Conclusion

The world of wellness continually evolves, introducing us to innovative therapies like red light treatment and vibration platforms.

As with any health regimen, it's essential to approach these therapies with a balanced perspective. While the benefits of red light therapy and vibration treatments are promising and backed by numerous testimonials, it's equally crucial to be aware of their limitations and potential drawbacks.

As I've journeyed through my personal experience with these treatments, I've discovered a renewed sense of vitality and well-being. However, always consult with healthcare professionals and do thorough research before embarking on any new health journey.

Embrace the possibilities, but tread with informed caution. Here's to radiant health and a future filled with informed wellness choices
