Did you know our attention span has decreased from 15 seconds to 4 seconds in the last 15 years? 

The reason for this is because we have access to so much media and everything is vying for our attention. At lightning speeds for that matter.

I was listening to a podcast the other day and a well-known entrepreneur gave up social media for one year. He is still in the middle of it.

He said he does not miss it. What he did notice was there was a low level of anxiety coming from all the time spent on social media. 

A light bulb went off over my head! He’s right. I decided right then and there that my social media time would be limited. I can only take so much! Especially in this time with the pandemic, politics, and bullshit going on.

Know what? I don’t miss it. I feel great. I even think my attention span has increased.

Trade Your Expectations for Appreciations

Have you ever traded your expectations for appreciations? If so how did that work for you?

Expectations are funny things. They hold seeds of entitlement. Ewww, I know that sounds yucky, but they do.

Remember the people on the airplane who got so angry when they were asked to leave the plane that they fought everyone? Things even ended up in lawsuits? 

Yes, that holds seeds of entitlement. 

Would it have been better for the people to just get up, accept that they had double-booked the plane, and kindly gotten up and walked off the plane? 

YES! Who knows why things changed? Perhaps there is a reason we do not understand. Get up and let go of those expectations.

Turn it over to appreciation and watch what happens. 

Perhaps if that had happened the person would have gotten off the plane only to find their long lost love in the airport while waiting on the next flight.

Or maybe, they could have started up a discussion with someone while waiting that totally changed...

The Answer to Procrastination

Action kills procrastination. Think about it. Have you ever put something off and then once you took a small action it just felt better?

Take cleaning a drawer or a closet. Take one small step towards doing the project, most times it moves you enough that you quit putting it off.

Personal initiative helps to take action. What is that? It is simply holding yourself accountable and just do it. Even if it is one small action towards doing the thing you dread.

In the book Eat That Frog the author tells us to do the hardest thing first in the morning. This puts you into action and makes the rest of the day go by smoothly! Try it! See how it works for you!

Stop This One Thing Now and Watch Your World Change!

A pendulum is a thought structure that everyone thinks. It ONLY wants YOUR energy, nothing else.

But when we complain or express dissatisfaction we put ourselves in harm's way. Why? Because the pendulum is getting our energy and sending us into the lifeline that will lead to destruction.

What Vadim means by this is when you complain, or seriously dislike something, it actually sends you to a life that is worse than what you are complaining about.

This happens so easily because we are programmed to complain about uncomfortable situations.

This is also a great example of the victim-victimizer model from my therapist Shary Davis. We get stuck in the endless cycle of victim-victimizer (you know the bottom of the triangle). It is a vicious cycle. *See the picture at the end of this post.

Toxic Positivity WTF?!

I first heard this term about a year ago. It just feels wrong to me. But I truly wanted to understand this concept so I did some research. I now understand why and when someone would view thinking positively as toxic. But positivity itself is NOT toxic. What is toxic? FORCED positivity.

Who came up with this term anyhow? First of all, positivity is not even a real word. And second of all, if it were the two terms do not go together. It is a true oxymoron.

So what is toxic positivity? Well, I find it to be when something really tragic happens and someone tells you, "Everything happens for a reason." or "Just think positive it will be over soon." That my friends are forcing positive vibes on someone who needs to grieve. That is FORCED positivity.

Focus on This - Tony Robbins Teaching

 The 3 patterns of focus with Tony Robbins are as follows:

  1. Are you focusing on what’s missing from your life or what you are grateful for?
  2. Are you focusing on what you can control or what you can’t control?
  3. Are you focusing on the past, the present, or the future?

 YOUR ANSWER TO THIS QUESTION WILL QUANTIFY YOUR EMOTIONS! 

 AND IT IS YOUR CHOICE!

To be in the best state of mind/consciousness:

  • Focus on what you are grateful for.
  • Focus on what you can control.
  • And focus on the present.

 Anything else will put you on a lower scale of consciousness. Remember the consciousness scale in Power vs Force?

Any of the FORCE consciousness levels means that your focus is not in the “correct” pattern.

You can focus on the FORCE levels, it is your choice. But those will not get you into a place where synchronicities fly off the shelf!! It is a mindset shift.

13 Tips To Improve Your Strength Training

Let's talk about Strength Training today. These 13 tips apply to everyone but I want to focus on those of us who are 40, 50, 60, 70+. You got this!
 
1. Do a light cardio warm-up before strength training to help prevent injury and post-workout soreness.
 
2. Proper form is more important than the number of reps; use a mirror to check your form. This is what mirrors are for in the gym, not for vanity purposes!
 
3. If you want to see results faster, do at least three strength-training sessions per week.
 
4. Save time and burn more calories by doing supersets, working opposing muscle groups back-to-back, and moving quickly from one exercise to the next without resting. This is also called circuit training.
 
5. Don't just lift dumbbells. Explore all types of equipment including resistance bands, kettlebells, stability balls, medicine balls, and barbells, as well as moves that require no equipment at all like push-ups and free squats. These are...
